Effective date: 27 April 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Allocatewise Ltd ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies on allocatewise.com, allocatewise.co.uk, and the web app at app.allocatewise.com (together, the "Service"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
Allocatewise Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16870388) whose registered office is at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. We are the data controller for any personal data collected through the technologies described below. Contact us at info@allocatewise.com.
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the operators of the site. We also use related browser-storage technologies, including localStorage and sessionStorage, which work similarly but are accessed only by the website that set them.
Where we refer to "cookies" in this Policy we mean both cookies in the strict sense and these similar technologies, unless we say otherwise.
2. Legal Basis
Our use of cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and, where personal data is involved, the UK GDPR.
- Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent. They are essential for the Service to function.
- All other cookies – including analytics and marketing cookies – are set only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR; Regulation 6 PECR).
You give consent by clicking "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or by ticking the optional analytics box during account setup in the app. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 6).
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
We group the technologies on the Service into four categories:
- Strictly necessary – required for core functionality such as keeping you signed in. Cannot be switched off without breaking the Service.
- Functional / preferences – remember choices you have made, such as your cookie-consent decision and UI preferences. Set on a first-party basis only.
- Analytics – help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. Set only after you have given consent. Aggregated and pseudonymised.
- Marketing – used by our newsletter provider on the public marketing site to attribute newsletter sign-ups. Set only on pages that include the newsletter form, and only after you have given consent.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or cross-site tracking pixels, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
4. Cookies on the Marketing Site (allocatewise.com)
| Name |
Provider |
Purpose |
Category |

MailerLite (loaded only on the Learn More and Methodology pages, where the newsletter form appears) |
Attribute newsletter sign-ups, prevent duplicate submissions, and provide basic anti-abuse signals. |
Marketing |
Up to 12 months |
The marketing site does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising cookies, or any cross-site tracking technology. Web fonts (Google Fonts), styling (Tailwind CDN), and icons (Remix Icons via cdnjs) are loaded from third-party CDNs; these requests do not set cookies but the relevant CDN provider will see your IP address as part of the standard HTTP request.
5. Cookies and Browser Storage in the Web App (app.allocatewise.com)
| Name / Key |
Provider |
Purpose |
Category |

PostHog (EU region, eu.i.posthog.com) |
Pseudonymous product analytics – page views, feature usage, performance signals. Loaded with autocapture disabled and only after you opt in. Used to improve the Service. |
Analytics (consent required) |
Up to 12 months |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid |
Stripe Payments Europe Ltd |
Fraud prevention and session integrity during the subscription checkout flow. Set only when you start a Pro upgrade. Treated as strictly necessary because they protect the payment process you have requested. |
Strictly necessary |
__stripe_sid: 30 minutes; __stripe_mid: 1 year |
The app does not use advertising cookies. PostHog is configured for EU data residency, with person_profiles: 'identified_only' and opt_out_capturing_by_default enabled until you grant consent. If you decline analytics, no PostHog cookies are written.
6. Managing and Withdrawing Consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time:
- Clear browser storage – removing site data or local storage for
allocatewise.com and app.allocatewise.com in your browser settings will delete the consent record (aw_cookie_consent) and any analytics identifiers. The cookie banner will reappear on your next visit so you can choose again. Note that clearing storage will also sign you out of the app.
- Block cookies in your browser – most browsers let you block or delete cookies, including those set by third parties such as MailerLite, Stripe, or PostHog. Help pages: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the app from working.
- Newsletter – you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email. This will end MailerLite's processing of your address.
- Email us – info@allocatewise.com – and we will action any consent withdrawal manually.
7. International Transfers
Some of the third-party providers that set cookies may process the resulting data outside the UK or EEA. Where this happens, transfers are protected by the UK Secretary of State's adequacy regulations, the UK–US Data Bridge, or Standard Contractual Clauses approved under UK GDPR. Further detail is set out in our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add, remove, or change a technology that affects browser storage. We will revise the effective date at the top of the page. Material changes – for example, introducing a new analytics or marketing provider – will trigger a refreshed cookie banner so you can re-confirm or withdraw consent.
9. Contact and Complaints
If you have questions about how we use cookies, or you believe we have not respected your choices, please contact us first at info@allocatewise.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
