Cookie Policy

Effective date: 27 April 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Allocatewise Ltd ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies on allocatewise.com, allocatewise.co.uk, and the web app at app.allocatewise.com (together, the "Service"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

Allocatewise Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16870388) whose registered office is at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. We are the data controller for any personal data collected through the technologies described below. Contact us at info@allocatewise.com.

1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the operators of the site. We also use related browser-storage technologies, including localStorage and sessionStorage, which work similarly but are accessed only by the website that set them.

Where we refer to "cookies" in this Policy we mean both cookies in the strict sense and these similar technologies, unless we say otherwise.

2. Legal Basis

Our use of cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and, where personal data is involved, the UK GDPR.

You give consent by clicking "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or by ticking the optional analytics box during account setup in the app. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 6).

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

We group the technologies on the Service into four categories:

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or cross-site tracking pixels, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

4. Cookies on the Marketing Site (allocatewise.com)

Name Provider Purpose Category Duration
ml_* cookies and localStorage entries MailerLite (loaded only on the Learn More and Methodology pages, where the newsletter form appears) Attribute newsletter sign-ups, prevent duplicate submissions, and provide basic anti-abuse signals. Marketing Up to 12 months

The marketing site does not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies, or any cross-site tracking technology. It loads PostHog in cookieless mode to count anonymous page-views by acquisition channel; no PostHog cookies or local-storage entries are written on the marketing site. Web fonts (Google Fonts), styling (Tailwind CDN), and icons (Remix Icons via cdnjs) are loaded from third-party CDNs; these requests do not set cookies but the relevant CDN provider will see your IP address as part of the standard HTTP request.

5. Cookies and Browser Storage in the Web App (app.allocatewise.com)

The app does not use advertising cookies. PostHog is configured for EU data residency, with person_profiles: 'identified_only' and opt_out_capturing_by_default enabled until you grant consent. If you decline analytics, no PostHog cookies are written.

On the marketing website (allocatewise.com), PostHog runs in cookieless mode – it captures anonymous page-view counts and the acquisition channel (UTM parameters and referring domain) in memory only, with disable_cookie and disable_persistence set. No PostHog cookies or local-storage entries are written until you sign in to the app and opt in to analytics there.

6. Managing and Withdrawing Consent

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time:

7. International Transfers

Some of the third-party providers that set cookies may process the resulting data outside the UK or EEA. Where this happens, transfers are protected by the UK Secretary of State's adequacy regulations, the UK–US Data Bridge, or Standard Contractual Clauses approved under UK GDPR. Further detail is set out in our Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add, remove, or change a technology that affects browser storage. We will revise the effective date at the top of the page. Material changes – for example, introducing a new analytics or marketing provider – will trigger a refreshed cookie banner so you can re-confirm or withdraw consent.

9. Contact and Complaints

If you have questions about how we use cookies, or you believe we have not respected your choices, please contact us first at info@allocatewise.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
