1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Allocatewise website at allocatewise.com and the web application at app.allocatewise.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Please also read our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Who We Are
The Service is operated by Allocatewise Ltd., a company registered in England and Wales (registered office: 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX). References to "we", "us", or "our" in these Terms mean Allocatewise Ltd.
Allocatewise Ltd. is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We are not a financial adviser, investment manager, or broker-dealer.
3. The Service
Allocatewise is a personal finance planning tool that allows you to:
- Import and manage a view of your investment portfolio and other assets.
- Simulate potential portfolio outcomes across a range of future scenarios using quantitative modelling.
- Build goal-aligned allocations based on goals you specify (e.g. maximise retirement survival probability).
- Run stress tests based on named historical market events or custom shocks you define.
The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use by individuals aged 18 or over residing in the United Kingdom.
4. Not Financial Advice
Everything the Service produces – including portfolio simulations, goal-aligned allocations, survival probabilities, cashflow projections, and stress test results – is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute and must not be treated as financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, or any regulated financial service.
Simulations are based on historical data and mathematical models. Past performance and modelled outcomes are not a reliable indicator of future results. All investment involves risk, including the risk of loss.
If you are uncertain about any investment decision, please consult a qualified, FCA-authorised independent financial adviser.
4.1 Nature of the Service (non-advised)
Allocatewise is an analytics and calculation tool. Allocatewise does not provide investment advice, a personal recommendation, or any assessment of the suitability or appropriateness of any investment, asset class, strategy or product for you. Nothing in the Service should be understood as steering you towards or away from any course of action.
4.2 Default and custom assumptions
So that the calculator can operate, certain input fields – including the custom expected-return assumptions and the inflation assumption – are pre-populated with default placeholder values. These defaults are illustrative inputs provided solely for calculation convenience. They are:
- not a forecast, projection, prediction or estimate of the actual returns of any asset class or investment;
- not a recommendation, endorsement, invitation or inducement to invest in, hold or dispose of any asset class, fund, security or product, and not an opinion on the relative merits or attractiveness of any asset class; and
- not Allocatewise's house view.
You are responsible for reviewing, and are able at all times to change, all assumptions used. Different assumptions will materially change the results.
4.3 Illustrative outputs
All outputs are hypothetical illustrations based on the assumptions you select or leave in place. They do not represent the actual or likely future performance of any investment, are subject to significant limitations, and must not be relied upon as the basis for any investment decision. Past performance and historic returns are not a reliable indicator of future results. The value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest.
4.4 No reliance; independent advice
You should not rely on the Service or any default assumption when making investment decisions. If you are unsure whether an investment is right for you, you should seek advice from an authorised financial adviser.
5. Account Registration
To use the Service you must create an account using an email address and password, or via Google or Apple sign-in. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@allocatewise.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
You must not share your account with any other person or create accounts on behalf of others without their consent.
6. Marketing Communications
By creating an account and accepting these Terms, you agree that Allocatewise Ltd. may send you our newsletter and occasional product updates by email. These communications may include articles on investing and financial planning, platform updates, and other content relevant to your use of the Service. They are general information, not advice.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or by contacting us at info@allocatewise.com. We will process unsubscribe requests promptly. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect your access to the Service or any transactional emails (such as account security or billing notifications).
Your email address and, where provided, your first name are shared with our email marketing provider, MailerLite, solely for the purposes of sending these communications. See section 10 (Third-Party Services) and our Privacy Policy for further details.
7. Subscription Plans and Billing
7.1 Free trial and paid subscription
New accounts receive a 30-day free trial with full access. No payment details are required to start it, and it is available once per account. When the trial ends, continued access to the Service requires a paid subscription – you will be taken to the subscription page and can choose a monthly or annual plan. Current pricing and a comparison of plan features are shown on that page and on our pricing page.
Accounts without an active trial or subscription retain their data but cannot access the Service. A number of tools on our website remain free to use without an account.
7.2 Payment
Any payments on the website are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. When you subscribe you will be asked to provide payment details directly to Stripe. We do not store your full card number, CVV, or bank account details. By subscribing you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, as selected) unless cancelled. You can cancel or manage your subscription at any time through the billing portal in the app.
7.3 Refunds
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel a paid subscription, access continues until the end of the current billing period. This does not affect your statutory rights.
7.4 Price changes
We may change subscription prices on reasonable notice. Price changes will apply at the start of your next renewal period after we notify you.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, its servers, or any connected systems.
- Introduce viruses, trojans, worms, or other malicious or harmful code.
- Conduct denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attacks against the Service.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access or extract data from the Service.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service.
- Misrepresent your identity or provide false information when registering or using the Service.
Breaching this provision may constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We reserve the right to report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
9. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the Service, including the website, app, methodology, algorithms, and content, are owned by or licensed to Allocatewise Ltd. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
Data you enter into the Service (your portfolio holdings, financial goals, and similar personal financial information) remains yours. You grant us a limited licence to process that data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on the following third-party providers:
- Google Firebase – user authentication, database, and hosting.
- Stripe – subscription billing and payment processing.
- EODHD – market price and reference data; every UK- and US-listed instrument on the EODHD feed, together with every UK gilt in issue, is the searchable universe in the Service. Allocatewise does not select or curate it.
- CBONDS – market price data used to enrich portfolio valuations.
- Google Cloud Run – backend computation infrastructure.
- MailerLite – email marketing and newsletter delivery.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies.
11. Availability and Changes
We aim to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, restrict, or withdraw any part of the Service without notice for maintenance, security, or business reasons.
We may update or modify the Service at any time. We will try to notify you of material changes, but you are responsible for reviewing these Terms periodically.
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service, with reasonable notice where possible.
On termination, your right to use the Service ceases and we will handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by English law, Allocatewise Ltd. excludes all liability for:
- Financial loss, investment loss, or decisions you make based on outputs from the Service.
- Loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect or consequential loss.
- Inaccuracies in market data.
- Calculation or methodology errors in providing the service
- Temporary unavailability of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a notice within the app. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute arising from your use of the Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
