1. Introduction and Scope
This Disclaimer applies to the Allocatewise website at allocatewise.com and allocatewise.co.uk, to the Allocatewise application at app.allocatewise.com, to the free public tools hosted there, to our blog and to our newsletter (together, the Service). It should be read together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
By using any part of the Service you accept this Disclaimer. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.
2. Who We Are and Our Regulatory Status
The Service is operated by Allocatewise Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16870388) with its registered office at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX.
Allocatewise Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We are not a financial adviser, investment manager, broker-dealer or platform, and we do not arrange, execute or hold investments. We do not assess whether any investment or strategy is suitable for you, and we do not carry out any know-your-customer or suitability checks. Nothing in the Service is a financial promotion of any particular investment, and nothing in it is approved by an FCA-authorised person.
3. Information, Not Advice
Everything the Service shows you – projections, probabilities, stress tests, asset-class allocations, gilt ladders, portfolio comparisons, blog articles and newsletter content – is provided for general information and education only. It does not constitute financial, investment, tax, legal or pension advice, and it is not a personal recommendation.
In particular, Allocatewise does not:
- recommend that you buy, sell, hold, switch or subscribe for any particular investment;
- compare the merits of particular investments, or advise on the advantages or disadvantages of any particular investment; or
- tell you what your allocation, risk level or portfolio should be.
Where the Service refers to "your" goals, "your" results or "your" allocation, it means figures calculated from the inputs you supplied and the settings you chose, not a judgement by Allocatewise about what you should do. Any decision to invest, and the choice of any specific investment, is yours alone. If you are unsure whether an investment is right for you, seek advice from an adviser who is authorised and regulated by the FCA. Free, impartial guidance is also available from MoneyHelper.
4. Risk Warning
Capital at risk. The value of investments, and any income from them, can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invest. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
The figures the Service produces are estimates from statistical models. They depend on historical data, on assumptions about future inflation, interest rates and asset-class returns, and on the inputs you provide. They are not forecasts, and they are not guarantees of any outcome. A probability shown by the Service is the share of simulated futures in which a goal was met under those assumptions; it is not the likelihood of any real-world outcome. Real markets can behave in ways that no model anticipates.
We make reasonable efforts to keep the Service and its data current, but content may be out of date at any time. We are under no obligation to update it, and we give no representation, warranty or guarantee that any content or figure is accurate, complete or up to date.
5. Tax
The allocations, projections and probabilities shown by the Service do not take account of your personal tax position. Where the model applies a tax assumption, it is a simplified, general one that may not reflect the allowances, rates, wrappers or reliefs that apply to you. Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and may change in future. Nothing in the Service is tax advice.
6. UK Government Bonds (Gilts)
Where the Service refers to conventional or index-linked gilts, it identifies them by their coupon and maturity date, and prices them from published Bank of England yield curves and market data. This is factual information about instruments that exist in the market; it is not a recommendation to buy any of them.
Index-linked gilt payments rise with inflation, so a maturity-matched gilt is designed to deliver a stable real income. Because they are issued by the UK government – which has never defaulted on a gilt, though that is not a guarantee of future performance – they carry very limited credit risk. The market price of a gilt can go up or down, and can fall significantly, but unless the UK Government defaults the gilt will deliver the promised cashflow at maturity. Gilts are not "guaranteed" in the sense that their value cannot fall, and selling a gilt before maturity may return less than was paid for it. Gilt prices and yields shown by the Service are indicative and may differ from the prices available from your broker.
7. Securities Data and the Instrument List
The list of shares, funds, ETFs and bonds that you can search for and add in the Service is every UK- and US-listed instrument supplied by our third-party market data provider, EODHD, plus every UK government bond (gilt) in issue, priced from Bank of England and Debt Management Office data. Allocatewise does not select, curate, screen or endorse the instruments on that list: it is a full data feed, not a chosen set. The list is provided for information only, and its content is not a recommendation of, or a reflection on the merits of, any instrument that appears on it or any instrument that does not.
The Service classifies each instrument into a broad asset class so that it can be simulated. That classification is an approximation used for modelling and is not a statement about the quality or suitability of the instrument. Prices, yields and other market data are provided as-is, may be delayed or incorrect, and should be verified with your broker or another independent source before you act on them.
8. Portfolio Builder and Trade Lists
The Portfolio Builder lets you assemble a portfolio from instruments that you choose. Any resulting list of holdings, quantities, prices or notional trades:
- is provided for information only;
- reflects the allocations, weightings and prices as at the date and time you generated it, which will change;
- is not a recommendation or endorsement of any of the instruments listed; and
- creates no obligation or expectation that you place any of the orders shown.
Allocatewise cannot execute trades. Where the Service colours or labels a weight as inside or outside a modelled asset-class range, that is a comparison with the allocation you loaded, not an opinion on the instrument.
9. Blog, Newsletter and Third-Party Content
Articles and newsletters are general commentary and education. Any company, fund, index or product mentioned is an example used to illustrate a point, not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold it. Figures in articles are correct as at the date stated on the article and are not updated afterwards.
The Service may contain links to websites and resources provided by third parties. These links are provided for your information only. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the content of those websites or resources.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations or other terms which may apply to the Service or any content on it, whether express or implied.
We will not be liable to you for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, even if foreseeable, arising under or in connection with:
- your use of, or inability to use, the Service;
- your use of, or reliance on, any content, figure or output displayed by the Service;
- any investment decision you make, or refrain from making, after using the Service;
- your use of any link to a third-party website or resource; or
- any virus, distributed denial-of-service attack or other technologically harmful material arising from your use of the Service.
Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.
The Service is provided for domestic and private use. You agree not to use it for any commercial or business purpose, and we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
11. Applicable Law
Your use of the Service and any dispute arising out of that use is subject to the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
